Please be advised that the Delegates of the 39th IBEW International Convention approved several amendments to Article IX of the IBEW Constitution.
In 2019 the pension fund will be increased by $1.00 and the local portion will be increased by 3.149%.
Local 84 would like to thank Brothers Larry Rooks, Harvey Shelnutt, and Jimmy Williams for their hard work and dedication to the Local. Brother Rooks started his career with the IBEW in 1973. He was a Boiler Turbine Operator when he left Georgia Power to serve his Union Brothers as the Business Manager from July 2013 until July 2019. Harvey Shelnutt began his career with the IBEW in 1976 . He was a Mechanic when he left Georgia Power to serve as an Assistant Business Manager from July 2013 to July 2019. Jimmy Williams began his career with the IBEW in 1981. Jimmy served his union brothers on the Executive Board for a number of years before leaving Southern Nuclear to serve as an Assistant Business Manager from January 1995 to July 2019.
Local 84 would like to congratulate and honor the heroism of one of our brave members, Brother Douglas Nathaniel Dixon. Brother Dixon, came to the aid of a woman in need in Greenville, SC who was being viciously attacked by dogs. Brother Dixon heard the victim being attacked and did not hesitate to run and help. We are proud to have Brother Dixon as a member of Local 84. We extend congratulations to him for his wonderful and selfless accomplishment. The IBEW Life Saving Award is presented to Brother Dixon for his remarkable achievement Thank you brother, for being there for another in need of help.

As of June 1, 2017 Brother Ronnie Chester has retired from IBEW Local 84. Local 84 would like to express many thanks and extend its best wishes in the retirement of Brother Chester. Brother Chester began his career in the electrical industry at Georgia Power displaying an eagerness to learn and help others. Brother Chester joined the IBEW in 1972 and has served as a member of the Executive Board and held the position of President of our local for a number of years. In 2010 Brother Chester joined our local as the Assistant Business Manager representing Transmission and Distribution for Georgia Power covered employees. Ronnie brought laughter to the workplace and saying that he will be missed is an understatement. We hope Brother Chester enjoys his retirement doing the things he loves most such as: hunting, fishing, and spending time with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Thank you for all you have done.
